A LITTLE HELP WITH YOUR FEEDERS
Frequently asked questions
Choosing, receiving, and caring for your next batch.
Live feeders
These answers cover our current mealworm, superworm, and discoid range. Products from other suppliers may have different requirements; check their product pages.
How many mealworms should I start with?
For a starter colony, consider 100–500 for smaller animals or 10,000+ for poultry flocks. Match quantities to your animals and storage space.
How many fit in a container?
A 32-quart bin holding 10,000–30,000 medium mealworms is a breeding example, not a guaranteed capacity. Monitor bedding temperature; above 88°F signals overcrowding.
Mealworms or superworms?
Superworms are substantially larger. Mealworms offer a smaller, economical feeder; choose a size suitable for your animal.
Is a storage container included?
No. Prepare your own suitable container before your feeders arrive.
How are mealworms packed?
In perforated bags for airflow, with newspaper for insulation. Open the bag and gently pour them into their container.
How long does delivery take?
USPS Priority Mail usually takes 1–3 days after dispatch. Timing varies by destination and is not guaranteed.
What is Hold for Pickup?
Your parcel waits at a post office instead of going out for home delivery. Follow tracking and collect promptly to limit temperature exposure.
